Steven Gordon

About me...

Steven Gordon, hails originally from Glasgow, but is currently based between the UK and Kosova. Steven has worked as a photographer since leaving the Glasgow College of Building and Printing in 1990. He started with a interest in fashion photography, but a chance to travel to Bosnia Herzegovina in 1993 changed his direction. He covered the conflict in Bosnia and the aftermath of the war until 1998, when he moved to Kosova. He stayed in Kosova until 2000, then returned to the UK. The next few years saw him work in the Palestinian Territories, Iraq and Sudan. During these periods Steven started freelancing for the Scottish papers, but over time has had work published in most of the UK qualities. He has worked for agencies such as Associated Press, Reuters, and Sygma Photo News. He has also had two books of photographs published on the Bosnian peace process, IFOR on IFOR and The Road to Peace.

Steven has also written extensively on the former-Yugoslavia for the Scottish Papers. He was a regular contributor to the Saturday Herald magazine as feature writer. He has also worked for international NGO’s as a security analyst and handling PR.

On returning to the UK Steven finally faced up to his misspent youth completing an MA in History at Glasgow University and is currently undertaking a Masters in International Relations at Cambridge. He still works regularly as a Climbing/Mountaineering photographer, doing images for the global climbing press supplying work to titles such as Rock and Ice, Climbing, Climb, Parenti, Grimper, Klettern, Gripped and Alpinist. He also regularly contributes for manufacturers Mountain Equipment, Black Diamond and Scarpa. When not on the hills he would really rather be fly-fishing for Salmon and Sea Trout, if only someone would pay him to do so...
